I was wondering why they seemed so unsurprised!

I did this in the French Alps, close to Mont Blanc. Barfed all down into the valley about 10 minutes in. My guide was also unsurprised. He said the gentle rocking and the frequent switching of direction can disorient people.

Upon closer viewing, you can see that the vulture lands on the stick, and there is a morsel of food that s/he eats before leaving.
