24 inches at the butt

Cut three logs off a downed oak on the back of the place this morning. Cut the about fifteen feet, as I was having to skid them out with Red.
The bottom log was two foot at the butt. Not bad. But I've got an olly-knocker down not too far from this tree. It's a big pin oak, like you'll sometimes see in a flat. The old thing looks like she's four foot at the bottom. Too much sugar for a dime, for this redneck.

Pecan is excellent smoking wood. I always have some chunks on hand.
Pecan and hickory are of the same family.
If I don't have wood, I'll use pecan hulls or gather up some old hickory nuts for smoke flavor. Soak them and add to the fire, they do pretty good.

A little large for a daily driver but every now and again, sure. These things are a matter of taste though.
