OK, so this is a really remarkable music video. There are literally hundreds of "reaction" videos about this on YT, but I'm quite annoyed that 98% are just silly and uninformed.

It's Rammstein's view on German history and present. An insane number of symbols and references in the video.

    • The main colors in the video are black, red, gold - like the German flag
    • The red lasers are paraphrasing the "roter Faden", a German saying for a recurring theme.
    • The black women represents Germania, the spirit of Germany.
    • The progression of animals is quite interesting and captures the main idea IMO: From wolves to German shepherds to finally Leonberger (the puppies, given birth by Germania). Born in wild, brutal circumstances - wolves -, then moving on to the German "qualities", both good and bad, that are associated with German shepherds. Leonberger is a breed of dog that nearly died out in WW2. They are known to be good-natured, friendly - maybe harmless - dogs - when Germania departs into space, they are what's left of Germania.
    • The "cannibalistic" scene is IMO a reference to the brutal internal wars in the medieval ages associated to religion, such as the 30 years's war.
    • Other symbols/references: Hindenburg disaster, the nature of Eastern Germany and their rulers, Holocaust, Weimar years, hyperinflation (1923), Marx, the "quadriga" on the Brandenburg gate (the horses being replaced by German shepherds), Battle of the Teutoburg Forest between Germanic tribes and the Romans, the "retribution weapon" V-2 (rocket scene), the Red Army Faction (a left-wing terrorist organization in the 1970s and 1980s).

It's a video one can watch a couple of times and discover something new each time.

Dude where have you been, that came out like 2 years ago. 😄

What amazes me is that band hadn't done crap before that came out. For 10 years, they were basically done. Then they do that.

      Crazy.

      Please love yourself.
