I go out twice a day, every day, walking the dog. Sometimes three times when it's warm enough to cycle. I socially distance.
I'm not at breaking point. Nowhere freaking near it.

I’m talking about even my liberal friends who are done with staying at home and thinking about how to resume a somewhat normal life. Those with means are talking a different venue where they can hang with family and friends and do things we used to do like dine together and be in the great outdoors. I’m not even talking about the unemployment issue.
So, on what basis are you speaking on behalf of the majority of the country? What data tells you that the majority of the country is at breaking point?
I can only speak on behalf of people I know, and most of them are not at breaking point.
You can't just make a claim like this.
First of all In many warm climates people are already out and about. The Northeast has been on the colder side. A big warm up is comingthis week. Just watch what happens. Then watch Memorial Day weekend. Summer is coming.
So, we've moved from 'most people' to 'many people' and/or 'people'.
'Breaking point' is a very emotive term, and essentially meaningless in this context, particularly when the only data we've got to back it up is some people going out in the sunshine.

Okay. I could be wrong but I’m watching what happens with climate change this week. Also where you live is not indictive of how others are behaving across the country. Charleston is almost back to normal and people in Florida are having a great time. Atlanta people are getting around. Friday and Saturday restaurants had reservations available at 330 and then again at 9. Curious about Dallas and southern CA.

6 weeks ago, I was able to drive from Annapolis, MD to Tyson's Corner in VA in 40 minutes. 51 miles during rush hour in one of the worst traffic regions in the US. Aqua, 89th, and Copper can attest to how strong of a statement that is.
Over the past two weeks, every day has gotten worse. This morning, it took me 45 minutes to drive 20 highway miles to get to work. On a Sunday. While I was filling up the gas tank, at least 28 cars were leading from a Starbucks Drive-Thru blocking a main intersection and road.

How many of us are out of work because of this? I mean specifically because of this? There are some on here that are retired or semi-retired and this might impact them taking on the occasional freelance project, but that's not the same thing. I know some are facing choices depending on what their employers decide on re-opening their regular offices and requiring employees to come back to the office, but that's not what I'm talking about either. I want to know who on this forum has actually been laid off, furloughed, or let go? Who has taken a heavy weekly income hit already from this? Who owns a business that has had to shut down or been severely restricted? My guess is not many. And most of us tend to interact with others in similar situations as our own. Let

What kind of defeatist attitude is this? Just because something has a electoral aspect does not mean we give up reason. If you do, then anyone can make anything an election issue and you would give up reason for every issue. This is a white flag that you should not wave.
There are still facts and there is still reason. For your own good and the good of your fellow man, do not give up on those, election or not.

Ask me again next month. If I'm lucky enough to dodge my current bullet and have my lay-off be virus-related, then that's what I'm looking at.
And most of us tend to interact with others in similar situations as our own.
One guy I play weekly D&D with installs doors and windows. The other two work at a screen printer's and does warehousing for Amazon. FWIW, the first is hopefully going back to work in about a week or two, but it's dicey. Second guy has drastically reduced hours, which really sucks, but at least the place is still open. Third guy is currently experiencing a windfall in hours and wages.

I didn't actually say that. I'm extremely fed up with it, for both professional and personal reasons - I can't attend my mother's funeral, which really is breaking my heart. This situation absolutely sucks. I objected to the term 'breaking point', and the idea that the majority of people are there.
I could be wrong, of course. I have been before.

I have seen almost no public voice from the folk who've lost businesses. This may be the bias of those who report stuff on TNCR but that's probably not entirely the reason. In this time of peak sanctimony it's important not to confuse the masses about which side can be sanctimonious.
