I’d like to see a write up on that. I think they are getting away with massive hypocrisy but I could be wrong. Ax’s article in this context appears to be incredibly misleading and is drivel for the woke.

I seem to remember that quite a lot of trendy lefties (the term we used before 'woke' became a thing) were very anti-Taliban until the US invaded, at which point they had to start questioning their privileged imperialistic beliefs.

I seem to recall at the time the now late Christopher Hitchens, a self professed leftist, excoriating the left and progressives for siding with the Taliban and other Islamo-fascists terrorists.

It's also possibly that some lefties thought that when they were fighting the USSR they were automatically bad, but when they fought the USA they became the good guys.

Also, some on the right almost certainly held the opposite view. Freedom fighters vs. the USSR, barbaric terrorists when vs. the USA.

The education system in Afghanistan was run by women. The Taliban came in and took them all out of their roles. I can’t even begin to imagine what a set back that has been. Imagine not levering women at all, Stone Age society.
