In another thread, I was telling Cats that I think it's always true that the best exercise you can do is the stuff you like doing.

Yeah, well, when you get older, you gotta start doing other shit, too.

I've been having serious back problems as of the past few years. It's gotten so bad that sometimes just walking around is more or less a no-go, and bending down to deal with laundry is laughable. I've always had back problems, but man, this crap was just getting intolerable. Sometimes I'd just have to lie down like an old person and it really, really hurt.

I've known about DDP Yoga because I'm an on-and-off wrestling geek. It's freaking amazing. Page took a little advice from doctors, physical therapists, personal trainers, rehab doctors, chiropractors, yoga instructors, etc., etc., and mashed it up into a program that seemed to work for him.

Turn out it works for a shitload of other people, too. There are many stories like this: (And yeah it's all sappy and shit but just look at the before and after.)

Anyway, I've been doing some stretches that happen to be part of the program for the past week. I was surprised at just how terribly inflexible I've become, which was discouraging.

But, I don't have any back pain right now. I mean I'm vaguely sore from doing the exercises, but that's it. I can get up without any problems, something I haven't been able to do for a couple of years if I'm being honest.

This shit seriously works and it's only been one week. This is just going to be my new thing, now, at least twice a day.

    Please love yourself.

Looks pretty good! I've bookmarked it.

FYI, for those days when everything is too much, it's Cat-Cow FTW. Go here for a good demo. FF to 1:45, because this is one of those annoying vids where the demonstrator talks for freaking ever before she finally gets to the point.

Not that you asked, but if your back is really bad, you might consider mixing in some more traditional and gentler yoga programs with your DDP program. I have a tendency to be impatient for results with exercise -- one reason I have a hard time sticking with it. I'm like, if I don't see results in a week, to hell with it. So I know whereof I speak.

One of the more existentially cruel aspects of life is that exercise hurts the most in the beginning, when you most need it to not hurt.

Looks interesting. Been looking for a new stretching routine to add to cardio and light resistance.

I'm the same way, which is why this stuff is so amazing. 3 days in and it made a huge impact on my life.

I used to have a hard time sticking with such things because I didn't enjoy them, but it's a massive quality of life issue at this point, so it's a non-negotiable. Either I spend 20 minutes a day minimum doing this kind of thing, or I further cripple myself for no reason. So if I'm traveling, staying in a motel, out in the woods, whatever, I don't care, I'm doing this twice a day.

          Please love yourself.
