The difference is price between buying a cup of Starbucks at their store and buying a big bag at Costco and making it at home is about 5x and maybe more.

I attempted a drive through Starbucks run this morning. The line was moving at about one person every five minutes. I imagine they had two people in the store, serving the drive through and walk-ins. I left the car line after 5 minutes when it became apparent that it wasn't just one person who'd ordered 15 lattes.

    Education is extremely important.

Amazon coffee for Keurig $0.29 (+ water and electricity)
Starbuck's black coffee $2.45 (+ fuel and car exhaust)

      8X

Keurig works in a pinch, but I’ll stick with my Mr. Coffee and the occasional French Press. If I was to buy a pod maker, it would likely be a Nespresso.

I was a Mr. Coffee man for decades.

I think I paid less than $20 for it. It lasts forever.

Then I got a Keurig as a gift. I like it.

Yeah, for sure. You can't beat the Keurig (or Nespresso) for convenience.

But, there comes a point where the sacrifice of quality just isn't worth it.

The Nespresso I had was good, but the coffee was never hot enough, and it was expensive, at more than $1 a run.

The Keurig was cheap, but it was never strong enough. After ignoring the "descale" message, I let it die a slow death.

Currently I'm using a French press mug.

              Works great.

I disagree. The coffee I make in my Keurig is better and fresher than I ever made in my Bunn coffeemakers, and in the other drip brewers I use in hotels or on vacations.

I prefer Nespresso to anything else I've made at home, and I've tried pretty much everything, except for that exploding device Mark likes.

Admittedly, I like espresso and lattes, which is what the Nespresso does better than anything other than a freaking expensive monstrosity of an espresso maker.

                  I was only joking

Well, the French press, imo, is superior. But not nearly as convenient. My major gripe was that it was never hot enough, and I had to nuke it to get it warm enough.

Also, expensive, by a factor of 3, vs a Keurig.

It is pricey, but I only drink 1 cup a day. I don't like the Keurig coffee that much, and the French press doesn't make espresso.

When I drink coffee that's non espresso, I use a milk frother that heats the milk, so the coffee is plenty hot enough. The espresso it makes is plenty hot without milk.

                      I was only joking

I have my first cup while driving (about 1 minute) to the golf course. I gulp it down, so not hot enough is good.
