Why is shadow always depicted as black, while at the same time it is associated with evil? Why can't shadows be rainbow-colored?

Very cool opening video.
In indonesia, there is a very popular shadow puppet tradition called "wayang kulit", where they tell some pretty elaborate stories in that form.
Here is a short example. Lots of fun and interesting to see once.
