Random comments
I had never hear of the second drug Vitriol(?) that he mentioned was good for 30 days.
I wonder what % of drug addict go back to addiction? My guess is that it is at least 30%.
When I was in LA about three years ago, the homelessness was really really really bad. Could not walk down a sidewalk without running into a tent or other homeless person. I was last there about 1/5 years ago, and it was much better. I am not sure if LA was just hiding them better, but there were definitely less homeless on the streets that I could see.
He mentions that much of the homeless/addicts have someone waiting for them back home to take care of them. Doubt that this is the case.

Anyway, something needs to be done, as the current method does not work.

When it was pointed out that he's living in a hotel, he responded, appropriately....

MY HOUSE BURNED DOWN BECAUSE OF FAILED POLICIES.

I have no idea how good he'd be as mayor, but I can't imagine him being worse than Bass or (gasp) Johnson.
