In my mind I thought a Lexus LS460 would be it.. I finally found one and test drove it today. Meh. It was nowhere near as luxurious as I thought and I found the performance sluggish. Just did not love it. Great car, fairly low miles, great shape. Meh.

Back to the drawing board.

Doesn't mean the Toyotas are inadequate for actual use, just a different feel when driving.

It wasn’t as comfortable as a couple of the Cadillacs I’ve rented over the past couple years and the performance was underwhelming for an 8 cylinder engine. The handling was ok, but not inspiring. It just felt ponderous, which it may be at 4300 pounds. My 3.5 6 cylinder 97 Acura RL was much more spirited, comfortable and the ride was much better. I just figured Toyota would do it right.

Next up, Acura, maybe Infiniti, maybe Mercedes and BMWs and Audis.

The LS460 is bigger than I'd want. Did you look at the smaller models, or Acura, German cars?

What did you expect in terms of being "luxurious" that wasn't there?
