With or without COVID-19, it’s simply not a good idea to rely on mainland-Chinese equipment in the telecommunications infrastructure. It’s too hard to trust the mainland-Chinese equipment vendors not to simply do whatever the mainland-Chinese government tells them to.

Bad optics perhaps, but he can fix it easily enough, as Jon suggested. This was set up before the pandemic.

These must be math-challenged reporters. Is there no one on the news team to help them?

    Jolly- what about antigen testing?

Different ways to do that, such as sandwich technology (usually read on a box) or a cassette test like a pregnancy test. I know the Koreans have been using the latter and I suspect that's where we need to go (along with a serum test for antibodies). I don't know the production capabilities of the cassette test, but I do know there are some result problems.

It’s a weird line, Mugabe’s government was maybe half the size of Dennark’s.

Maybe this narrative will make a round: "Extreme man-made pollution has triggered the Earth's immune system and the Earth responded with SARS-CoV-2 to protect itself." Imagine a Hollywood blockbuster with Jeff Goldblum delivering a line along that line.

"Mother Nature finds a way". It has occurred to me that these viruses might well be seen as antibodies for the planet's immune system.

It’s even worse, they did some post adjustment afterward to make up for the fact that the volunteers weren’t properly distributed geographically. Makes sense, but the further people were from the test sites the more likely they tested positive, so they end up adjusting everything upward.

Why is that an issue? Again, self-selected volunteers. It’s already a problem that people who think they might have had something would be more likely to seek confirmation. But that seems doubly true if you had to travel an hour to a test site.

The good news is there are many other serological studies happening now, so we should get some better data.

And of course the problem with counting cases is that it is SO skewed by testing.

I live in MA, which is 3rd or 4th, depending on which table you prefer, and I don't know a single person who has been tested. Not one. How can we claim to have a clue under these circumstances?

Personally, my approach is that I really don't consider photographs and videos important enough to require serious backup. If I loose my videos and photographs, I can live with that. Once I exclude my videos and photographs, the volume for all the truly important data that I want to reliably backup is very manageable and I do not really need Cloud backup.

    Interesting perspective!

If I lost our photos and videos - I'd be pretty dang upset. I don't think my wife would ever recover. It's pretty much the only real important class of files I have.

    Same with me. LOL

    Comrade Detective on Amazon Prime.

So my husband has been trying to get me to watch this show for sometime, and I've always sort of poo-poo'd him. But during this special time of sheltering at home, I've had a chance to watch an episode, and it's pretty funny.

Absolutely wonderful. Enjoying it so much. Thanks for the recommendation.

After I finish this, I'm back to Bosch.

Corelle FTW. Love that stuff. Lightweight, indestructible. We have a few sets of good china, but we only use one at Christmas

I will tell my dad you said thank you.

I get cedar flavor from my planked salmon. The secret is to stop soaking it so long. 10 minutes tops. Any longer and you are just leaching the flavor out of the wood.

Just made some tonight. 2 filets on cedar, 2 on the grill. World of difference...
